I have a blind cat myself, he is now 7 years old now and I always tell people that blind cats are like regular cats. They are as playful and resourcful as normal cats. They are just blind but that does not hold them back much. My cat can run the stairs up and down faster than I ever could and he loes to climb up the highest places that he can. Getting down is a problem for him though. Animals who lose one or more of their senses rely heavily on their other senses, and their brains adapt to what they have. The part of the brain normally reserved for sight has been replaced by the senses of touch, smell, and sound, and it’s amazing how animals can create a map in their heads and change that map as things change. As a disabled person, every video about a disabled person flourishing – whether it’s a human person or an animal person – gives me hope and helps to normalise disability. Which really helps me feel valuable. So thank you ❤️ He’s so adorable! My friend found a tiny ginger colored dog with no eyes. Of course she named her Ginger. That dog was so sweet and affectionate. Ginger quickly learned where everything was and never bumped into things. She even chased and played with the other dogs. Nobody could help falling in love with her. God bless you for loving Dimitri. 🐾💗🙏🏻🐈 As someone with a disability, I’ve always wanted to adopt a disabled pet, because I know that they often get discriminated against in shelters because people want the “perfect pet”. I’ve never had the chance to yet, either because they weren’t available or because the personality of the animal wasn’t compatible with me or my family (e.g they were super active – I have chronic fatigue, and my family is too busy to care for a hyperactive pet). But my goal whenever searching for a pet is to make sure they’ll fit happily into my family, and to see if there are any disabled pets that fit that! It’s lovely to see that someone with no experiences with cats was willing to adopt a disabled cat! He clearly has such a lovely personality, and it’s so nice to see that he found a home where he’s loved for who he is! ❤️
